Essential weekend works to prepare Supertram tracks for Tram Train

Revised timetables and services will operate on the Yellow and Purple Supertram Routes on Saturday and Sunday 16th–17th and 30th–31st January, and 13th–14th and 27th-28th February 2016. Blue Route Supertram services between Malin Bridge and Halfway are unaffected.

Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th January
Works taking place near Attercliffe.
Yellow Route will operate between Middlewood and Cricket Inn Road only. Replacement bus service between Fitzalan Square and Meadowhall
Purple Route will operate between Herdings and Cathedral noly.

Saturday 30th, Sunday 31st January, Saturday 13th, Sunday 14th February, Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th February
Works taking place near Parkway Viaduct.
Yellow Route will operate between Middlewood and Sheffield Station only. Replacement bus service between Fitzalan Square and Meadowhall
Purple Route will operate between Herdings and Middlewood.

Engineering work to alter the track has been taking place overnight since 30 October, to minimise disruption to current customers. Areas of more complex work cannot be completed overnight and weekend closures are therefore necessary.
Construction of a 400 metre new section of track called the Tinsley Chord will also begin to link the tram network to the rail line between Sheffield and Rotherham.
Other works to make Tram Train a reality include the installation of overhead lines to carry electricity to power the vehicles, and building new Tram Train platforms at Rotherham Central and Parkgate.

Bus services explained
Y1 is a stopping service that follows as close to the tram route as the road network allows. Buses will serve most bus stops on the route. Stops that are served will have a Supertram replacement bus notice on them.
YX is a limited stop service that operates via Saville Street to Arena Square where it then follows the route of the Y1 to and from Meadowhall. As a limited stop service this bus doesn't stop between the City Centre and the Arena Square area so we recommend this service for customers only going to Valley Centertainment, Meadowhall Retail Park or Meadowhall. With a short walk customers to/from Arena can also use this service if required. Stops that are served will have a Supertram replacement bus notice on them.
L1 - Running every 30 minutes between 9am and 6pm the L1 is a Park & Ride shuttle bus between Nunnery Square Park & Ride and Commercial Street, operating each Saturday of the works. At other times, customers using Nunnery P&R are advised to use the Y1 service to Stop 4, Woodbourn Road / Parkway Avenue then follow the path alongside the Supertram depot.
Throughout the works, trams will not serve Meadowhall Interchange.
